Today we divide wet sandblasting cabinets into two categories: very light duty and Industrial. Consider Industrial wet machines are designed for daily operation, are 100% welded to eliminate leaks, and while the duration of operation isn’t a key factor, the speed of processing is. Light Duty Machines are typically constructed with cheaper materials, use a form of agitation that results in a small percentage of abrasive held in suspension, operate limited gun size cfm usage, and typically require lower blasting pressure. If labor is not important, they can be a good tool.
ProTip: Wet sandblasting cabinets can easily rust, and they rust even faster if they’re not used daily.
We’ve been manufacturing our Industrial Hurricane wet sandblasting cabinet for more than 40 years. This is significantly longer than many of the new wet sandblasting cabinets that are just coming onto the market today. These new machines are flooding the market with low cost wet blasting using low cfm usage and very fine blasting abrasives. Media Blast offers a stainless steel HydroSlurry model for these applications.
The Hurricane vs. Other Wet Sandblasting Cabinets
Wet sandblasting cabinets are normally about 6 times slower than dry blasting cabinets using the same gun size. Our Hurricane is intentionally designed to process parts faster and reduce processing time when blasting with the wet blast delivery. We offer the best ROI of any wet blast cabinet manufacturer because of three huge design features:
- The Hurricane model is manufactured using all stainless steel construction.
- Our abrasive suspension uses a seal-less slurry pump located outside the cabinet that is capable of 23% solid suspension, which is significantly greater than some of our competitors who offer only 9 to 10% solid suspension with smaller lower pressure gun sizes.
- The Hurricane is capable of suspension of larger abrasives sizes than any other wet sandblasting cabinets on the market, including as large as 80 mesh abrasives using an optional slurry pump.
To Sum It Up
The Hurricane wet abrasive sandblasting cabinet is manufactured specifically to improve ROI for wet sandblasting applications. Our stainless steel construction, seal-less slurry pump, large abrasive suspension, and easy to service external pump location set our wet cabinet apart from our competitors.
Media Blast & Abrasive has been manufacturing sandblasting cabinets since the 1970s. We make more than 50 models totaling 180 individual cabinets with some models available in as many as 13 different cabinet sizes. In addition to a comprehensive list of included features, we offer more than 80 optional features for increased productivity, durability, and operator safety.
