The TB-2 Tumble Barrel is one of various tumble barrel sandblasting options we offer.
Most tumble Mediablaster®s today use the same gun to process the barrel or basket full of parts. Parts that can’t be held because they are too small to process or high volumes of small parts are better and faster blasted when using batch loads. This is the function for all tumble basket or tumble barrel machines.
All Media Blast Tumble Barrel Options are listed as sandblast cabinet options unlike the TB-5 Basket model that’s a standard machine model complete. While the option can't be purchased without purchase of a Media Blast® machine model, this does allow the option to be added to the right abrasive delivery model for the application. Wet or Dry, with and without pneumatic conveyor for standard to ultra-fine abrasive. The TB-3 is a bulk processing tumble barrel with fast mix this option includes many additional upgrades to create a dedicated bulk tumble barrel machine.
The TB-3 option makes a full production Tumble Barrel Machine with a special square cabinet design and no manual blasting station or sloped operator window available on a 36”x 36” cabinet layout standard for a compact machine footprint. It uses the largest barrel size, 22-inch diameter, and operates using 50 cfm to prevent part slamming causing part damage.
Because it's a barrel and not a basket it has the fastest random part mixing for the fastest possible cycle time only requiring a 50-cfm blast gun to prevent part damage. The TB-3 uses a 1/2 hp variable speed drive, a 1-1/2" diameter support shaft and a 22-inch diameter barrels for up to 50-pound part loading. This unit normally has a cycle time of 20 minutes for full barrel loads and it’s the shape of the barrel that creates the speed of processing for utility tools, knife blades, and many parts that mix without locking.
The TB-3 is also commonly used to remove heat-treating scale on any parts up to 5” in length to prepare and clean parts for center- less grinding application or surface finish almost any part size and shape in batch loads before final assembly without part color change.
The TB-3 has the largest attached dust collector, 440 sq.ft., and an automatic timed dust collector cleaning cycle. It can also be purchased less dust collector for operation on our 4-cartridge 880 sq.ft. dust collector. Use this with any existing central dust collector, cfm supplied must meet requirements.
Pro Tip: Two, (2), TB-3 Tumble Barrel Machines will out produce one TB-4 tumble barrel and have double the dust collector capacity reducing dust collector maintenance by one-half.

TB-3 Option
Tumble Barrel allowing maximum daily output and high duty cycle
Wet or dry
50 cfm
56 cfm @ 100 psi (most tumble machines operate at higher pressure because of the distance of the nozzle to the parts)
TB-3 operation requires compressed air in addition to the air usage required by the machine it’s being added to. Check line pressure making sure it’s 100 psi or higher for proper operation of any TB model. Distance from the nozzle to the part requires higher than maximum impact velocity blasting pressure, and while lower pressure will work, the loss of frictional heat can increase processing time. Air compressors vary greatly, check the cfm output on the compressor being used or visit Air Basics for more information on compressor selection. Pro Tip: Never buy a compressor using the displacement cfm number, always use the second cfm volume number listed with 90-100 psi inside the tank, because tank pressure reduces performance.
0-150 mesh internal separator
Available 150-240 mesh using any external separator machine model
60 to 150 mesh for internal separator reclaimer, 80 to 240 mesh for pneumatic conveyor operated machines called external separator reclaimers. See Media Blast model N-200 Cyclone
Glass Beads, Aluminum Oxide and Silicon Carbide. (Due to distance-to-parts the processing pressure may be higher than maximum impact velocity.)
TB-3 is listed as an option but really a complete machine with: 700 cfm blower – 440 sq.ft. dual cartridge filters – hopper dust storage – automatic timed pneumatic vibrator dust collector cleaning cycle
Variable speed DC drive 28 rpm max – 12 to 22-inch barrel diameter, standard 22” diameter – operator-controlled jog for load and unload –no manual work station – 1-1/2″ diameter barrel jack shaft and bearings – dedicated production tumble barrel with the fastest part mix – single power source electrical – square cabinet design for maximum barrel size diameter – solid state timer and barrel jog control circuit
