Most Abrasive Blasting Cabinets are dry abrasive delivery models. This means first, compressed air delivers abrasive to a blast gun or nozzle. Next, the abrasive is accelerated to higher speeds as it exits the nozzle and then it impacts the part being blasted. A wet blasting cabinet, or Vapor Blaster, uses water to deliver the abrasive material to the gun where the gun airjet accelerates the mixture against the part. These are less common abrasive blast cabinets, but vitally important to many applications.
How Does a Vapor Blaster Work?
Wet Vapor Blasting uses pumps, mixing paddles, and even compressed air to suspend abrasive grains in water. This slurry mixture is then pumped to a siphon injector gun assembly. This is the same as in dry blast cabinet models, and the slurry has a similar effect as dry abrasive blasting.
Mother Nature uses Vapor Blasting
One of the greatest examples of a vapor blaster is The Grand Canyon. Fast moving rivers using a suspended sand mixture carve deep valleys. In Vapor Blasting Cabinets we harness this power to our advantage.
What makes a Vapor Blaster so Special?
For a while there, it looked like companies were going to stop purchasing wet blast cabinets all together. But it turns out there are some really specific uses for vapor blaster cabinets. In fact, wet industrial blast cabinets are the backbone of modern manufacturing. We even make the case that medical implants saved the wet blasting industry!
