Most tumble machine today use the same gun to process the barrel or basket full of parts. Parts that can’t be held because they are too small to process or high volumes of small parts are better and faster blasted when using batch loads. This is the function for all tumble basket or tumble barrel machines.

All Media Blast® Tumble Barrel Options are listed as machine options. While the option can't be purchased without purchase of a Media Blast sandblasting cabinet, this does allow the option to be added to any machine model, wet or dry, with and without pneumatic conveyor, for standard to ultra-fine abrasives.

TB-4 Tumble Barrel Features

The TB-4 is a production Tumble Barrel Option with a special rectangular sand blasting cabinet design and no manual blasting station. It can use the largest barrel size, 22-inch diameter, but also is available with smaller barrels installed for short part loads. Because it's a barrel and not a basket it has the fastest random part mixing for the fastest possible cycle time only requiring a single gun inside the barrel.

The TB-4 uses two variable speed drives, two 1-1/2-inch diameter support shafts and two 22-inch diameter barrels standard for up to 50-pound part loading or one smaller barrel for smaller short loads. This unit normally has a cycle time of 20 minutes for 50-pound part loads.

This model is commonly used to remove heat-treated scale, prepare and clean parts for center less grinding application or surface finish parts in batch loads before assembly of knifes, hand tools and other parts requiring a uniform finish.

TB-4 Tumble Barrel Capabilities

Two, (2), TB-3 machines with a total of 880 sq.ft. of filter area will produce more part volume per hour than the TB-4 model. Because the part load protects the barrel during operation, the TB-4 unit will not be able to protect barrel screen life when processing short or small part loads. Remember to consider how the unit will be operated - if you have many short loads, it is suggested you have one of the smaller barrels installed on the TB-4 when first purchased.

Pro Tip:  If the TB-3 and TB-4 were mixing cake batter they would make more cakes per day than a TB-5 Master using a basket.
