Build your own custom Tornado™ configuration using simple questions you ask yourself about how best to capture the dust created by your exact application using the three modular basic sections. The bottom of this Media Blast® Tornado™ is the dust collector or dust hopper, the mid-section is the table work area size, and the top is the dust capture configuration used to channel the airflow away from the operator and into the bench.

The Tornado, Pollution Control Work Bench is a simple, well-designed and cost-effective down draft work bench used for the control of almost any type of nuisance dust resulting from grinding, sanding, deburring and more. These units are totally self-contained and include a single 220 or dual 440 square foot replaceable filter cartridge. The filters are MERV tested and rated for dust collector efficiency and no special electrical or ducting is required. All units include a blower silencer to allow air discharge back into the area where the bench is located which prevents loss of heated or cooled air when working in smaller workspaces.

Tornado Pollution Control Work Bench Design

Designed to create up to 500 feet per minute of tabletop surface velocity while creating constantly increasing down-draft air velocities for capture of airborne dust at 100-125 feet per minute cabinet size regulated, the Tornado creates smarter airflow using smaller blowers and better machine capture design. Operate this unit without the downdraft blower running and the table becomes just another workspace making this a great space saver/work table.

NOTE: Tabletop velocity and down-draft velocity are different. The unique design allows a fast tabletop velocity and a lower constant down-draft velocity varying with the sizes of the bench.

The units are offered in stand-up and sit-down models, with and without enclosed tops, and you have the choice of two (2) blowers for operation on 120-volt or high voltage single power source high voltage.

For special dust requirements and applications, the Tornado is available in the Tornado Work Station only for operation using a central dust collector. The Tornado, self-contained down-draft work bench, includes the dust collector and blower assembly.  This is not for the collection of any type of combustible dust micron size or density related.

Class II (Explosive Dusts) Hazardous substances

Class II locations are those that are hazardous because of the presence of combustible dust. Note that the dust must be present in sufficient quantities for a fire or explosion hazard to exist. The fact that there is some combustible dust present does not mean a Class II hazardous location exists. To be considered a “dust”, the combustible material must exist as a finely divided solid of 420 microns (0.420 mm) or less. Such a dust will pass through a No. 40 sieve. Just as in Class I, Division 1 and 2, the subdivision of Class II into Divisions 1 and 2 identifies the likelihood that there will be an explosion hazard. Always check local codes to make sure a nuisance dust collector can be used for an application.
